With this suite we worked not only with the talented bride, Colleen, but also with the mother-of-the-bride, Mary! the two of them had great ideas for how the suite should look and were so much fun to work with. Colleen is getting married near the World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park, Missouri. The vibe she is going for on her wedding day has a decidedly vintage flair and she wanted her invitations to reflect that. If you don’t already know this we LOVE the vintage look around her so playing around with different options for her was easy and fun.

For the invitation, we used the two main colors from Colleen’s palette: a golden yellow and navy (she is also incorporating a little poppy red and stone gray on the wedding day!) which contrasted really beautifully. Colleen loves vintage banners and dotted borders so we included both on the main invitation and to really capture the vintage feeling decided to incorporate four different fonts: Phaeton, Champion, MrsEaves and Engravers Shaded. This is a good trick if you are trying to go vintage. Back in the day they totally weren’t afraid to go a little wild with the typography.

For the rsvp card we incorporated an old-style postcard script to make the card feel more like a genuine postcard. We also incorporated a teeny bird carrying an envelope- another element Colleen wanted to use in the suite. We also used all of the four fonts here too and I just love the way the engravers shaded looks when printed for the reply date. It just POPS!

Colleen’s mom, Mary, worked with us mostly on the map which is so lovely I think it deserves its own blogpost. We will be showing it off and filling you in on the details of this piece in the next few days!

Thank you Colleen and Mary for your fabulous vision and fun approach to your suite!

xox, A

There are some wedding vendors I just have major crushes on. MAJOR. Even within my own industry. Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. is one of them. Her work is on the other end of the spectrum from ours and I just can’t get enough of her style! I recently purchased one of these from her after lusting after it for a few months:

I just know that I will treasure it for the rest of my life and when C and I have children they will always remember it as that box Mom kept the recipes to all our favorite foods in. That’s how I remember my step-mom’s cookbook and it always makes me smile when I see her thumbing through it in the kitchen. I also love that all the wood for these boxes is reclaimed and reloved, making each one will be a little different, kind of like letterpress. I highly recommend checking out her work, it is hard not to fall in love!

Red and aqua are one of my ultimate, most, obsessed with, favorite color combos ever. We have only ever printed them together on one suite and I can’t even tell you how happy it made me! The Heartthrob suite started out as a couture order for Rachael and Christopher for their July wedding. I ended up liking the design so much that we made it a house suite for all the other modern, clean line-loving brides out there.

Rachael chose some really fun fonts and it is rare that we have a client ask for a sans serif roman font like Quicksand (think about it, ladies!). One of the most interesting things about this font is it comes in a dashed version which makes for some really stunning, attention-grabbing letterpress. Rachael also wasn’t afraid to mix in a fun little script font (Dagobert) on the save the dates to keep it interesting. I can’t say enough how great font pairings can be if they are unexpected and little unconventional. BE BOLD! Let your invitations be joyful and free- no matter what your style/aesthetic. When you do, you get something as lovely and personal as this suite, and that will always be impressive to the lucky few that get to receive them in the mail.

Thanks to Rachael and Chris for having such great style and vision!

Working on this suite was really exciting for us because Jamie and Randall are a San Francisco couple, referred by another one of our SF brides, who in turn referred another SF bride to us. Working with local couples happens so infrequently for us that it is always a little extra special. We just love meeting the couples we get to know so well while working on their suite. This job was also particularly fun because we love the bay area and the golden gate bridge! Our very first apartment was on Alcatraz Avenue and from the front steps you could see both the island and the bridge, which I absolutely loved.

For this suite the golden gate bridge was custom drawn and the colors were chosen to match the rest of Jamie and Randall’s wedding. Jamie opted to have a response postcard instead of the traditional style and I think it really works in this case, especially with the somewhat whimsical script font. We ended up loving this suite so much that we decided to turn it into a house design for other couples to enjoy. If you are interested in having it for your own just visit the house wedding section on our website!

Thank you, Jamie and Randall for being so much fun to work with and for bringing a little extra San Francisco love to our studio!

We printed these business cards for the delightful Michelle, of Sweet Peas and Seashells, over two months ago and it was one of our favorite projects at the time. Michelle owns a company specializing in beautiful embellishments for weddings (check her out ladies!), and was looking for something pretty and subtle, using her color palette of a light, serene blue and gray. Besides our own, this was the first business card order we have ever done and I absolutely fell in love. I adore any small thing and printing little is one of my all time favorite things to do. I’m not sure where my obsession for all things teeny tiny stemmed from but it may be because my handwriting is fairly minuscule, which you would definitely have noticed if you’ve ever received a handwritten card from me. Anyway, Michelle’s cards were a joy for us to print, we loved how cheerful the blue was paired with the peaceful gray coral along the left side. I also loved that Michelle wanted to have her company name on an angle to add extra interest to the card and make it the focal point- so fun! Thank you Michelle for getting us started on B cards and definitely check out her etsy shop!

Hi there, we are ready to rock and roll now! Care to join? So, the new website is up and mostly running! We have added a whole horde of new house designs, made everything load faster and generally cleaned up our look a bit and infused some extra joy into the whole shebang. Happy and clean is what we are going for with this one and I think we are mostly there. We will be tweaking things a bit all week and not all the “view suite” buttons on the house section are running but everything should be pretty perfect by Friday. I will also be sharing some of our new work starting tomorrow so that will be fun and exciting times. Hope you all enjoy the new look!
