Good Morning, font friends! TGIFF! I super love typing that. So today I thought I’d share a more playful font favorite that is all kinds of fun and interesting and has a little spunk! ST Friska came to my attention a few months ago when a new client showed it to us and was interested in using it for her stationery. Ultimately, she went in a different direction but I am still a big fan of it. I’m also a fan of the price tag ($34) which is pretty reasonable in the font world! Here is the official description:
St Friska, designed by Sascha Timplan, is based on old movie title lettering. St Friska was made just for headlines. It comes with a slight touch and feeling of art deco but it’s designed to be contemporary in 2010 and beyond. St Friska comes with a vareity of OpenType features, so a designer can play with it like Lego, using it alongside old or new typefaces. The St Friska font has stylistic sets with a lot of ligatures.
When I use it in our work I think it looks particularly fabulous for a couple’s names. Totally makes a bold little statement, like “Hello Gorgeous!” Some examples…

HOLY EEK!!!!! I want this now…For no other reason but that I MUST have it right now just in case…and then I can find a reason to use it…
Loving this pick Alexandra! I think it definitely works better at a larger size though so you can see all the great little details in it. Definitely would like to see it used in a wedding invite.

Wow, that’s is so neat! I haven’t seen that one before. I love the description and can totally see it as a movie title! Someone give Steven Spielberg a call! Great choice! (am I the only one who comments every sentence with an !)
